Vital Sim Monitor Support
Vital Sim Monitor is a multi-iPad patient-monitor simulator for medical and nursing education. One iPad acts as the instructor controller while others become the bedside monitor and navigator, so a facilitator can drive vital-sign changes through a scenario and debrief afterward. It is simulation software for teaching — not a medical device.
Does the app give medical advice?
No. Vital Sim Monitor is education and simulation software, not medical advice and not a medical device. It is not connected to real patient sensors, is not validated for clinical decision-making, and has no FDA, CE, or other regulatory clearance. Do not use it for patient monitoring, diagnosis, treatment, triage, or emergency use. Always follow your facility's policies and your instructors' guidance.
Do I need an account?
No. You can run local Wi-Fi sessions between iPads anonymously without creating an account. You only sign in if you want to save debriefs and certificates to your account or use the remote room-code transport. See the Vital Sim Monitor Privacy Policy for exactly what is stored when you sign in.
How do I get two or more iPads to work together?
Open the app on each iPad and choose a role (Controller, Monitor, or Bedside). Devices pair one of two ways:
- Local Wi-Fi — the iPads discover each other on the same network. The first time you run a session, iOS asks permission to access the local network; tap Allow. This transport never leaves your local network.
- Remote room code — devices join the same room code to pair over the internet when they are not on the same Wi-Fi.
Pairing isn't working — what should I check?
- Confirm every iPad is on the same Wi-Fi network for local pairing.
- Make sure you allowed the local-network permission. You can check it in the iOS Settings app under Vital Sim Monitor → Local Network.
- On restrictive networks (many hospital and campus Wi-Fis block device-to-device traffic), use the remote room-code option instead.
- If a device won't reconnect, close the app fully on that iPad and rejoin the session.
Where are my debriefs and certificates?
When you are signed in, debriefs and certificates of completion you generate are saved to your account so you can review them later. If you ran a session anonymously, they are not saved to an account. Participant names you enter into a debrief are information about the learners you are teaching — only enter details you are authorized to record, and let your learners know their names are saved.
How do I delete my account and data?
Email richard@yourfriendrich.com to request account deletion; your account and all associated debriefs and certificates are removed within thirty days. Local Wi-Fi session data is never stored — it is gone the moment the session ends. Deleting the app removes its on-device data. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
How do I manage a purchase?
Purchases are handled by Apple. Manage purchases or request a refund through the iOS Settings app under your name, or at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Which devices are supported?
iPad running a recent version of iPadOS. A multi-iPad session needs at least two iPads (one controller and one or more monitor/bedside devices).
