App policy
Yard Sale Treasure Finder Privacy Policy
Yard Sale Treasure Finder estimates the resale value of an item from a photo. This policy explains what the app collects, how it is used, and your choices. Estimates are informational only and are not appraisals.
Last updated: July 22, 2026Estimates are informational only
The app produces estimates of resale value using AI and public marketplace data. Estimates are not appraisals, offers, or guarantees. Actual value depends on condition, authenticity, completeness, fees, shipping, local demand, and timing.
Information we collect
Photos you submit. When you scan an item, the photo(s) you choose are uploaded to Supabase and sent to OpenAI to identify the item and generate a value estimate. Before the first estimate, the app displays this disclosure and asks you to continue. Photos are not uploaded or analyzed merely because you take or choose them; upload begins only when you submit the estimate.
Scan details. Item information you add (notes, brand, model, condition, asking price) and the resulting estimate, comparable listings, and related metadata are stored with your account.
Environment scanning. The service performs image detection and scene classification on the submitted photo to identify the item and relevant visual attributes. Those derived item details are stored with the scan result.
Account information. If you create an account, we store your email address. You can also use the app with an anonymous session, in which case we store only a randomly generated identifier.
Subscription & purchase information. Auto-renewable subscriptions are processed by Apple. We receive transaction identifiers and entitlement status to unlock features and enforce scan limits; we do not receive your full payment details.
Diagnostic data. Basic technical logs (for example, error states) used to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the service. Diagnostic records may include a random user identifier and technical request or error details, but not payment-card information.
How we use information
We use your information to analyze your photos and produce resale-value estimates and comparable listings; to save your scans and Treasure Chest so you can return to them; to manage your account, subscription entitlements, and scan limits; and to operate, secure, and improve the app.
Service providers
We share data only with providers that help us run the app: Supabase stores account, scan, and photo data; OpenAI processes submitted photos and item details to identify the item and produce structured estimate inputs; eBay receives generated item search terms, not your scan photos, and returns comparable listings; and Apple processes subscriptions and sends entitlement status. OpenAI API requests are configured with storage disabled, and OpenAI states that API inputs and outputs are not used to train its models by default. Providers may retain limited service or abuse-monitoring records under their applicable data controls. We require service providers to process information only for the services they provide and to maintain protections appropriate to that information.
We do not sell your personal information, use it for third-party advertising, or track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Data retention and deletion
Supabase retains your scans, uploaded photos, saved items, and account data while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time in Settings → Account → Delete Account inside the app. This removes your Supabase account, scans, uploaded photos, saved items, subscription event history, and local app history and cannot be undone. Account deletion does not cancel a subscription held by Apple; manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings. After deletion, later Apple subscription notices are acknowledged without recreating your app account. You can also email us to request deletion.
Security and processing location
We use access controls, encrypted network connections, user-scoped storage paths, and server-side credentials to protect app data. No method is completely secure. Our providers may process information in the United States or other locations where they operate, subject to their contractual and legal safeguards.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices
You can use anonymous mode to avoid providing an email, delete individual scans or your entire account from within the app, and manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account settings.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and post the revised version here.
